[03:55:01 PM] [Matt T of Client Support Services] Mr. Johnson, are you there?

[03:55:27 PM] Trader: yes

[03:55:52 PM] Trader: hi Matt, what's up?

[03:56:11 PM] [Matt T of Client Support Services] I know it has been a little while, but you and I talked a couple of weeks back about stochastics based on premarket data.

[03:56:18 PM] Trader: right

[03:58:24 PM] [Matt T of Client Support Services] Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I had to dig a little to get an answer. As it turns out the stochastics will calculate based on the info in the chart. So as long as you have the premarket info in the chart, the stochaxtics are calculated to include it.

[04:00:02 PM] Trader: so does that mean that if you switch to a chart that has had premarket trades going by (even though you haven't been tracking it until you load it and view, that the data and resultant stochs should appear?

[04:00:28 PM] Trader: (after the open?)

[04:02:44 PM] Trader: because the problem we've been experiencing is that once the open occurs, many stocks (but not all) lose their premarket data. And it doesn't seem to be related to whether or not I was following a particular one premarket)

[04:02:54 PM] [Matt T of Client Support Services] The stochastics calculate using whatever info is displayed in the chart. If you refresh the chart and the premarket data goes, the stochastics are based on the normal hours. So basically, if you want the stochastics to include the premarket, you have to have been watching the stock in the premarket, and not refreshed the chart at all.

[04:04:02 PM] Trader: although undesirable, that seems logical, but look at my previous comment; some will refresh and lose the data and some won't

[04:04:08 PM] [Matt T of Client Support Services] Sometimes the chart will refresh itself if it loses connection to the server. Very common at the open. That is a problem if you are trying to track using the premarket data.

[04:04:33 PM] Trader: but why would some not lose it?

[04:06:59 PM] [Matt T of Client Support Services] Is it consistently the same stocks? Or random?

[04:07:11 PM] Trader: ransom, and not based on volume of premarket activity

[04:07:21 PM] Trader: random sorry lol

[04:09:27 PM] Trader: for example, I follow NVDA a lot; some mornings, it will track all the premarket activity and never refresh after the open, even if I arbitrarily change the market hours' other times, it might refresh on the first mini-reconnect or hard refresh right after the open

[04:10:43 PM] [Steve H of Client Support Services] Your Message has been received by Client Services, please standby.

[04:14:23 PM] Trader: also Matt (And Steve?), sometimes NVDA might retain its premarket data after the open nommatter how many times you refresh (either automatic or manual), and another stock like INTC would reresh and lose its premarket data; the next day, the compelte opposite might happen, or both would do whate each other is doing that day

[04:14:47 PM] Trader: sorry for the spekking

[04:14:54 PM] Trader: oy spelling

[04:15:38 PM] [Steve H of Client Support Services] Not sure why at this point. Volume on the security may be a factor. But at this time not sure.

[04:16:35 PM] Trader: volume was my original guess, but it doesn't play out like that; sometimes big premarket movers will lose the data, sometimes they'll retain; same with low volume stocks

[04:17:50 PM] [Steve H of Client Support Services] Good point,..esp. with looking at same symbols in am, where volume may be close from one day to another..

[04:19:06 PM] Trader: well, I haven't tried to measure low movers from day to day to day to see how they compare to the same period day over day over day with high movers

[04:19:26 PM] Trader: but it has certainly seemed random

[04:19:55 PM] [Steve H of Client Support Services] I~ll relay that information to Matt. Thanks for the information and we~ll see what we can report.

[04:20:10 PM] Trader: ok thx

[04:20:16 PM] [Steve H of Client Support Services] You~re Welcome, have a great day!

[04:54:20 PM] [Matt T of Client Support Services] I~m back. Sorry. I don~t think there is going to be much you can do about the randome refresh issue. Lots of things happen at the open or even slightly before. There is a rush of data. Even with a stellar connection you will have some minor hiccoughs at the open. There is no way to predict, but sometimes a chart will lose its data momentarily. When it reconnects it refreshes. Not too much we can do about it.

[04:54:55 PM] Trader: ok, thanks for the research

[04:58:06 PM] [Matt T of Client Support Services] You~re welcome. If you need anything further just ask!
